Friends In Need
Friends in NeedIn December of 2006, the Friends in Need Fund was started to help pets brought in to Best Friends by clients who could not otherwise pay for much needed, oftentimes life dependant, medical care.  The fund was developed by a client who donated $500 to us in honor of her dog, Devon, who had recently passed away.  In most instances, the owner has relinquished the pet to us.  Rather than euthanize the pet, we have, with the owner’s approval, been able to either perform surgery and/or provide the medical care needed to establish a good quality of life for that pet.

The staff and doctors have been instrumental in unselfishly donating their time to this cause in an effort to save a pet whose life would have otherwise been cut short.  We are forever grateful to them for their generous hearts, and grateful to Devon’s mom for helping us to start this wonderful fund.

One of the ways that we support this fund is by making a contribution to it whenever we lose a patient.  The donation is made in honor of our lost friend.  We are in the process of creating a memorial wall on which we will begin posting all of the pets for which donations have been made in honor of.

For information on how you can make a donation, please contact us at 618.222.9860.

Best Friends Animal Hospital actively supports the Military PetsFOSTER Project, a non-profit organization that matches foster homes with pets that need care when the owner, listed in the military, is called to duty to serve the country.  The organization also raises money to care for these pets.  For more information, please visit their website at:  www.netpets.org.
